What is?
Invisalign® straightens teeth to give you the confidence of a great smile. Using a series of clear, virtually invisible aligners, Invisalign gently and gradually moves your teeth based on advanced 3-D virtual computer imaging technology and the treatment plan prescribed by Dr. Bocage. There are no wires or brackets so you’ll have confidence in your smile during and after treatment. And, Invisalign aligners are removable so you can eat whatever you want and easily brush and floss as you normally would.
Here is a great video that explains how Invisalign treatment will benefit misaligned teeth:
Why would I want it?
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
How does Invisalign Work?
The virtually invisible aligners, which are made of a thermoplastic material uniquely developed for the Invisalign treatment plan, look similar to teeth-whitening trays. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan determined by Dr. Bocage. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks before moving onto the next set of aligners in your treatment sequence. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will begin to move gradually – week-by-week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. You’ll visit us about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time typically lasts 9-28 months, and the number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both numbers will vary from case to case. Don’t forget to ask about ways to accelerate your treatment with Propel®. Then you’ll be smiling like you never have before!
How often do I need to wear my aligners?
It is recommended that you wear your aligners for 20-22 hours per day and only remove them for eating or drinking, brushing and flossing. Approximately every two weeks, you will begin wearing a new set of aligners, advancing you to the next stage of your treatment. We will monitor your progress every six weeks. For best results and a timely outcome, you should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, throughout your entire treatment.
What is Invisalign Teen?
Invisalign Teen is a custom-designed Invisalign system just right for the dental needs of teenagers. It includes blue-to-clear color-changing aligners to show how long each aligner has been worn. Invisalign Teen is the perfect teeth-straightening system for today’s teens’ busy lifestyles. Request a consultation with Dr. Bocage to determine if Invisalign is the right treatment option for your teenager.
Does insurance cover Invisalign?
Because medical benefits differ from policy to policy, you should review your personal coverage plan and check with your insurance provider. In general, if a patient has orthodontic coverage, Invisalign should be covered to the same extent as conventional braces.
